If there are no gods, prayers go nowhere.
But let's play the game for a moment and assume that your
infinitely-powerful creator-of-the-universe god does exist.
To be a god, a being must be perfect. You surely would not
accept an imperfect being as your god!
A perfect being cannot have imperfect knowledge.
If your god really is a god he must know everything.
If he knows everything why do you have to pray to him to
remind him that you need to pass your exams, or that you need money so you can
pay the rent, or that Aunty Beryl is sick and needs to be healed?
If your perfect god already knows —
perfectly well —
that Aunty Beryl's sick and does nothing to heal her, doesn't he WANT her to be
sick?
If your perfect god wants Aunty Beryl to be sick and you ask
him to heal her, aren't you telling the perfect creator of the universe he
doesn't know how to do his job?
You sure that's a good idea?
[And if you think
Aunty Beryl's sickness is a test from god, see my post IT'S A TEST]

I'm not even-handed. And while I believe in 'balance' in viewpoints there are enough god-bothering sites out there for the turgid rants of the rabid. Your comment will be posted only if you mind your manners. And perhaps not even then.
